Melgaço by Night
Melgaço, known as Portugal’s most extreme nature destination, presents a unique experience for adventure and outdoor enthusiasts: Melgaço By Night, a nighttime event that combines sports, nature, and socializing. The initiative is divided into two sections—a 10-mile run and a 5-mile walk—both under moonlight.
This second edition will visit some of the municipality’s most iconic locations, such as the historic center, Melgaço Castle, the Training Center, the banks of the Minho River, Louridal, and Orada. In addition to encouraging sports, the event also aims to be a time for sharing and relaxation, fostering team spirit and fair play, without being purely competitive.
The starting point will be at Melgaço City Hall at 9:30 pm. The secretariat will be located at the Melgaço Volunteer Fire Department, between 7:30 pm and 9:00 pm on the day of the race. At the end of the races, there will be a social gathering for all participants.
Registration, which can be done individually or as a team, will be open until the day before the event or until the limit of 150 participants is reached.
Payment can be made in person at the Melgaço Training Center reception or by bank transfer, using the following information:
IBAN: PT50 0035 0456 00019797330 22

For registration to be considered valid, proof of payment must be sent to the email address melsporteventos@gmail.com.
The cost of participation is €15 for the run and €10 for the walk.
Upon registration, participants are entitled to a race bib, intermediate and final refreshments, sports and personal accident insurance, liability insurance, transportation to the finish line (in case they withdraw or are withdrawn by the organization), access to the changing rooms at the Training Center, and photo coverage of the event.
To participate in the races, it is mandatory to bring:
• A headlamp or flashlight with enough battery power to last the entire duration of the event
• A whistle
• An emergency thermal blanket
• A cell phone with a battery and available credit
Additionally, the organization recommends:
• A CamelBak-type backpack or belt with a container of at least 1 liter
• Energy-rich food or snacks for consumption during the race
• Clothing appropriate for the weather conditions (windbreaker, hat/cap, etc.)
• A vest or clothing with reflective elements
