Melgaço prepares to host some big names in XCO at the UCI Continental Series round
Melgaço once again establishes itself as a key venue on the international mountain biking scene by hosting, from 28 February to 1 March, a new round of the UCI Mountain Bike Continental Series – XCO Vila de Melgaço. This highly competitive event places this Minho municipality among the top destinations for mountain biking in Europe.
The Melgaço round not only reinforces the prestige of the XCO Vila de Melgaço on the international calendar but also contributes to the promotion of the discipline, the sport and the region, attracting participants, spectators, and their teams.
Among the confirmed standout athletes are some of the top names on the global XCO scene:
- Sebastian Fini (MONDRAKER FACTORY RACING), 16-time Danish national champion and winner of a World Cup;
- Alejandro García Vázquez (MONDRAKER FACTORY RACING), 2024 XCO Portugal Cup champion;
- Yana Belomoina (Massi), with participation in four Olympic Games;
- Luca Braidot (Massi), Italian athlete with multiple national titles;
- Anne Tauber (KTM Factory MTB Team), two-time national champion in the Netherlands;
- Joshua Dubau (Decathlon Ford Racing Team), two-time World Cup winner.
With this lineup of top athletes and many other high-performing participants, an exciting weekend of competition is expected, full of adrenaline and spectacle throughout the course.
