XCO
The Melgaço Mountain Biking Center offers five clearly marked trails with varying difficulty levels, with a span of 170 km.
At Porta de Lamas de Mouro, in a large leisure area nestled in a paradisiacal natural setting, there is a support facility for mountain bikers, who can enjoy some equipment, such as changing rooms and a designated parking area.
Route XCO 1
A short, accessible course, ideal for beginners in Olympic Cross Country (XCO). At 760 meters long and with a 25-meter gradient, this green circuit offers a safe, fluid layout with gentle obstacles and wide curves, suitable for young athletes, beginners, or those seeking controlled technical training. Set in a natural environment, it provides exposure to the basic elements of competitive MTB, fostering confidence and progressive development.
Route XCO 2
This moderately difficult Olympic Cross Country (XCO) course is ideal for experienced riders. At 1.5 km long and with 54 meters of steep climbs, this blue circuit includes short, demanding climbs, technical curves, and small natural and artificial obstacles that require good bike control and effort management. It’s an excellent course for more intense training or for technical development after beginners, while maintaining a high level of safety.
Route XCO 3
An Olympic Cross Country (XCO) course with an intermediate to high level of difficulty, designed for cyclists with good technical and physical fitness. At 3.18 km and 118 meters of positive elevation gain, it offers a demanding yet fluid layout, with intense climbs, technical curves, and accessible rock gardens, designed to challenge without compromising safety. This circuit provides an excellent foundation for competitive training and is ideal for consolidating technical skills on varied terrain, maintaining the fluidity and rhythm of the sport.
Route XCO - percurso oficial do Campeonato da Europa 2025
This is the official route of the European XCO Championship, a highly demanding physical and technical course. At 3.52 km long and with a 129-meter elevation gain, it features aggressive rock gardens and short but intense climbs, full of rocks and roots that challenge the athletes’ technique. The circuit demands precise riding and constant attention, testing the bike’s ability to control uneven terrain. The final section is marked by a fast and flowing section, culminating in an intense final climb, ideal for competing in the decisive sprint. A course designed for the best, combining challenge, speed, and strategy.

A highly demanding Olympic Cross Country (XCO) course designed for experienced and technically prepared cyclists. At 4.47 km long and with 209 meters of positive elevation gain, it features a challenging combination of technical and physical sections. Highlights include technical rock gardens that test skill and bike control, as well as an aggressive descent towards the river, which requires confidence and refined technique. The final climb is very tough and demanding, testing the athletes’ endurance and endurance. An intense and exciting course, ideal for those seeking to push their limits.
