Cyclocross Melgaço
Melgaço is the starting point for the Portuguese Cyclocross Cup and the Minho Cyclocross Championship – Discover Melgaço.
The competition takes place at the Melgaço Training Center and is open to all interested parties, bringing together athletes of different ages and competitive levels.
Cyclocross, also known as “cross-country cycling,” is a form of cycling practiced primarily in winter. Races take place on mixed circuits, combining dirt, mud, sand, and asphalt, with various obstacles—natural or artificial—that sometimes require athletes to dismount and transport their bicycles, making this sport particularly demanding from a technical and physical standpoint.
The Minho Cycling Association, Melsport, and the Municipality of Melgaço are responsible for organizing the event, covering the youth, cadet, junior, under-23, elite, master, and promotion categories.
The Melgaço circuit is widely recognized by fans of the sport as one of the best in the country, standing out for the quality of its track and the challenge it offers participants.
