Melgaço hosts the 1st Portuguese Cyclo-Cross Cup 2025 – UCI C1 on October 18th
Melgaço once again asserts itself as a premier destination for outdoor sports, hosting the 1st Portuguese Cyclocross Cup – UCI C1, part of the 9th Melgaço Cyclocross on October 18, 2025.
The organization is led by Melsport – Melgaço, Desporto e Lazer E.M., with the support of the Melgaço City Council, the Portuguese Cycling Federation (UVP/FPC), and the Minho Cycling Association (ACM).
International level competition in Melgaço
The event, a UCI C1 international category event, marks the start of the national cyclocross season, bringing together athletes from various categories—Under-13, Under-15, Under-17, Under-19, Under-23, Elites, Masters, Paracycling, and Open—on a technical and challenging circuit located near the Melgaço Training Center.
The 2,930-meter course was designed to provide a true sporting spectacle, with challenging climbs, sandy areas, jumps, and technical descents, guaranteeing excitement for both athletes and spectators.
Registration and race program
Registration is open through the Portuguese Cycling Federation website until 11:59 PM on October 15th. The circuit will be open for free practice on the eve of the event, Friday, October 17th.
The races will begin at 9:00 AM on Saturday, October 18th, with different starts per category. The competition awards UCI points and points for the 2025 Portuguese Cyclo-Cross Cup, in addition to monetary prizes according to the sport’s international regulations.
Melgaço, capital of nature sports
With the natural backdrop of the Peneda-Gerês National Park, Melgaço promises a day of intense competition and camaraderie, reinforcing its status as the outdoor sports capital of Portugal.
Beyond the competitive aspect, this event is also an opportunity to explore Portugal’s northernmost municipality, famous for its landscapes, gastronomy, and Alvarinho green wine.
